Nigeria Jollof Came out the Best in first ever Washington DC Jollof Festival

What The Festival was All About

The event is an amazing Jollof-Fest, with food, drinks, music, and good times in beautiful company. Held in Washington DC United States. People are to determine who makes the best Jollof dish in DC and Their vote determines the winner of the Jollof Wars.

There was a blind tasting of Jollof prepared by teams of 2-3 people representing their country during the first ever Jollof Hackathon. Everyone represented their country. The participating countries include Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Liberia and more.

The Nigerian Jollof Was Champion.

Nigeria Jollof beat Ghana jollof, Cameroon jollof, and Sierra Leone jollof in the competition. Atinuke Ogunsalu of Queensway Restaurant & Catering in Maryland, US, secured the win for Nigeria with her dish. The winner walked away with US$1000 coworking services from event partner I/O Spaces and an opportunity to become a Chef at Jollof Caviar; an upscale African Fusion Restaurant which is to open in Washington DC in 2019.Newly crowned #JollofFestival winner Ms. Ogunsalu told TheAfricanDream.net that she was glad to have carried the win for Nigeria, and felt that people can now actually jump off the fence and give Nigerian Jollof rice a treat instead of being prejudiced.
