Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has called on the Government for support after an immense water surge has left the main city Makurdi together with other areas of the state under water.
As outlined by Daily Post, Ortom has asked the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), to liaise together with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on assisting all those out of their place and the displaced people to get shelter.
Flooded areas are Zone 4, Wurukum, Gebade, Nyinma, Ghana, Naka Road, Wadatta Gboko Road and Media village in Achusa, after a rainfall that fell from 12.30 AM and then continued till 5 AM, Punch reports.
The governor of the state lamented that the overflow is going on at a time his state is finding it hard to pay salaries.
He asked the Federal Government to come to the states aid, and asked for help and support.
